We cut from 8-9 oz Hermann Oak vegetable-tanned hide - the same weight saddlers reach for. It molds once, holds its shape for decades, and darkens honestly with sun, sweat, and use.
Every seam is saddle-stitched by hand with two needles. If one thread wears through years from now, the stitch line holds - it can't unravel the way a machine lockstitch can.
Retention comes from boning: pressing the damp leather into every contour of your firearm. No thumb breaks needed, no screws to fiddle with, no break-in gimmicks. It fits on day one and gets better from there.
